Frank S. Verdone, 38-year-old optometrist, opted for laser surgery two years ago to correct his nearsightedness after he couldn't find his 5-year-old daughter because he wasn't wearing his glasses when she fell into their backyard swimming pool. "I was probably going to do the procedure anyway, but that pushed me to do it right away. I actually see better than I did with my contact lenses. Now I'm better than 20/20; I'm 20/15."
